Elden Ring: Nightreign Won’t Have Cross-Play Support

FromSoftware has stressed that it isn’t designing Elden Ring: Nightreign as a live service experience, but the action RPG is nonetheless meant to be primarily a multiplayer experience. It will, however, be missing one key feature that you’d want to see in such a game.

Speaking to IGN, Elden Ring: Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki revealed that the co-op roguelike action RPG won’t feature support for cross-play, similar to Elden Ring itself. PS4 and PS5 players will be able to play with each other, while Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S players will be able to party up as well, but PlayStation and Xbox players won’t be able to play together.

“Similar to the original Elden Ring, there will be cross-generational play but not cross-platform play,” Ishizaki confirmed.

It’s also confirmed that though Elden Ring: Nightreign will be playable solo and in parties of three, a duos option won’t be available.

Elden Ring: Nightreign is due out in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A closed network test is set for sometime in February.
