Ghost of Yōtei Focuses on the Odachi’s Sheer Power in New Gameplay
Sucker Punch Productions and Sony chose quite the day to unveil some new Ghost of Yōtei gameplay, but its focus on various weapons in the open-world sequel continues with the odachi. Unlike the katana, it’s a heavy blade that requires two hands to wield and offers such power that a leaping attack of your horse feels earth-shattering.
There’s also a charged spinning strike capable of destroying an enemy in one hit. Atsu can also nudge an enemy with the pommel for some quick pacing, but otherwise, many of the odachi’s moves are fairly straightforward. Which is fine when the power does all the talking.
Ghost of Yōtei launches on October 2nd for PS5, having recently gone gold. You can check out other weapons, including the kusarigama, yari, and firearms (along with some dual blades), in the meantime. Sucker Punch also recently confirmed that Legends, a co-op mode from Ghost of Tsushima, would return in 2026 for free. Head here for more details.
