We were pretty intrigued by HOUR ZERO, the live-action four-episode prequel to Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, which helps raise the stakes for the legendary pilot whose shoes we’re stepping into when the game comes out.
The first episode is out now, and it’s a pretty insightful look into the effects of armed conflicts and what it does to leaders who send their soldiers. We’re hoping the grizzled commander it focuses on will be someone we deal with regularly in-game, as he seems seasoned enough to understand that war comes with a price, but not soft enough to allow enemy incursions without mounting an appropriate response.
It’s going to be interesting to see how he uses the new pilot who seems destined to meet him in a situation that seems quite dire for their side of the conflict. We hope the determined pilot and experienced general are able to create an opportunity for some light at the end of the tunnel in the next three episodes. We’ve dropped the first one for you below in case you’re tempted to dive in right away while you wait to see what awaits the Joker Squadron when this one drops early next month.
