Cliffhanger Games’ Black Panther joins the roster of cancelled projects by Electronic Arts while the studio itself has shut down. Aside from its single-player focus and reported open world, nothing was known about the title. However, new details have seemingly emerged courtesy of a confidential playtest held at an unknown time.
Twitter user @notfunEman posted some concept art which showcased numerous in-game locations, including Wakanda. They also allege that Azari, T’Challa’s son, was one of the multiple playable characters based on a scene provided in the survey (which was “VERY similar” to the film’s ritual combat).
Interestingly, a Skrull ship would seemingly appear in the middle and abduct T’Challa. When asked for proof, the user provided a screenshot outlining the at-home playtest (though they clarified that it isn’t their email “legally speaking”).
Take everything with a grain of salt, but based on the impressions of developers who worked on the project, it would have been something unique. As it stands, EA’s other Marvel-licensed project, Iron Man, is still in the works at Motive. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
