EA Sports FC 27 Gameplay Deep Dive Highlights Improved Defending and PlayStyle Changes

EA Sports FC 27

The time has flown by since EA Sports FC 27 lifted the veil on Kylian Mbappé as the cover athlete on its Ultimate Edition. Following the gameplay reveal, a brand-new deep dive is available, and it’s quite interesting on many fronts.

It’s bringing some much-needed improvements to defending, for starters. EA has acknowledged the role of community feedback in implementing changes to the defender system, making the AI take on a more passive role while giving you room to step in and take control of the ball in critical situations. Paired with better tackling systems, changes to the range of interceptions and blocks, and a long list of other tweaks, wresting control of the ball from a fierce opposition is looking like it could feel vastly different right off the bat, just as EA claims it’s going to be.

Of course, there are also those PlayStyle updates, with refinements aimed directly at addressing feedback. Updates to Finesse Shot, Technical Dribbler, Rapid, and so many more are on the cards, and are sure to make each one feel all the more distinct. Are all these changes going to be enough to make this one feel like it’s more than just an incremental upgrade, a facet of last year’s experience that we called out in our review?

Things are looking good for the moment, but we’re going to wait until September 25th to make more informed comments.
