There may have been some amount of skepticism surrounding co-op roguelike action RPG spinoff Elden Ring Nightreign in the lead-up to its release given how different it is from what one usually expects to see from developer FromSoftware. The studio’s generated goodwill and the Elden Ring IP’s massive fan following has ensured what looks like a great start for the game, however- at least as far as PC player numbers are concerned.

As per SteamDB, on Thursday, the day of its release, Elden Ring Nightreign saw a peak of 313,593 concurrent players on Steam. It should be interesting to see how much (or if) that number climbs over the coming days, especially with the game’s first post-launch weekend coming up. Don’t be surprised if that peak goes up further over the next few days.

Of course, in comparison, Elden Ring itself had roughly thrice as many concurrent Steam players at peak, at over 953,000 players, but as a spinoff with a very different brand of gameplay, Nightreign is still attracting quite a healthy playerbase viewed on its own terms.

Elden Ring Nightreign is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Read our review of the game through here.
