Microsoft’s multiplatform publishing plans have taken another major step with the recent announcement of Gears of War: Reloaded, with the classic Xbox IP set to finally make its PlayStation debut alongside an Xbox and PC launch. Along with its announcement, Microsoft has also offered some finer details on how the shooter’s co-op offerings will work.

Having already confirmed that Gears of War: Reloaded will feature full cross-platform multiplayer and cross-progression across all platforms, Microsoft has now also stated that the third-person shooter won’t require a Microsoft account- with some caveats.

Those looking to play cross-platform co-op or versus multiplayer will be able to do so with and against players on all platforms without needing to sign in with a Microsoft account. That said, those do have an account will get some benefits, such as support for cross-progression in campaign and multiplayer across all platforms, for those who want to hop across platforms without losing progress.

Gears of War: Reloaded is due out on August 26 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will be priced at $39.99.
