After revealing the final launch hero for Marvel Rivals, NetEase has detailed the game’s monetization. It already has post-launch seasons and microtransactions for cosmetics with no pay-to-win elements. However, a new article outlines the exact currencies, Battle Pass content, and more.
There are two currencies – Lattice and Units. The former is premium and purchased with real money (with one costing $0.99) and earned from the Battle Pass alongside Units. However, the latter can also be acquired from Events and Achievements, and you can exchange them for Lattices at a 1:1 rate.
As for the Battle Pass, Season 0: Dooms’ Rise will cost 490 Lattices (roughly $5) and include five outfits (including a Legendary Quality skin for Mantis) alongside other cosmetics. The best part is that paid Battle Passes won’t expire, and you can claim its rewards in later seasons.
A free Battle Pass tier will also be available with at least one Epic Quality outfit and other items. It’s worth noting that items from both tiers must be redeemed using Chrono Tokens earned from participating in events and completing “tasks.”
Future paid Battle Passes will cost double Season 0’s but also offer double the number of items. Those who prefer not to spend money can still look forward to free outfits and cosmetics by completing Achievements and events. NetEase will also provide free Units to purchase premium cosmetics.
Marvel Rivals launches on December 6th. It’s available to pre-load on Xbox Series X/S, so expect PC and PS5 to follow shortly.
