Capcom’s remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 continue to bring in numbers for the company. The former has sold a whopping 15 million copies, up by 500,000 since its last milestone, while the latter is at 9.6 million sales, up by 400,000.

Both sales figures are noteworthy due to the relative age of the titles. Resident Evil 2 remake arrived in January 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, eventually coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. It received overwhelming acclaim from critics and fans, becoming the standard-bearer for remakes.

Resident Evil 3 remake followed in April 2020 and to say it didn’t quite receive as much acclaim would be an understatement. This is due to its comparatively shorter length, story changes and cut content (including Mercenaries). The bundled Resident Evil: Resistance, a horrendous asymmetrical multiplayer component, also didn’t help.

Capcom’s latest remake is for Resident Evil 4, which reached 9.2 million units sold. As for the future, Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica are rumored to receive remakes.
