Less than two months away from launch, a build for Saber Interactive’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 started doing the rounds on the internet. Though containing placeholders and requiring polish, it was substantial enough to play through, resulting in spoilers and leaked gameplay. The developer and publisher Focus Entertainment have since addressed the same via Twitter.
“Our teams have poured years of hard work, passion, and dedication into creating a game worthy of your hopes and expectations, and it’s disheartening that many of the surprises we worked to keep secret were spoiled. We’re saddened that this build, which will be almost a year old by the time we launch, is how some of our most eager fans will first experience Space Marine 2.”
It’s currently asking fans to avoid the unfinished build and not spoil it before the game’s worldwide launch in September. “The best way to support our teams’ hard work is to play the game as they’ve always intended.”
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 releases on September 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It went gold last week and has since received some new screenshots. A public beta was planned but subsequently cancelled to prioritize the “best possible experience at launch.”
The campaign will last approximately 12 hours, but it supports co-op. There are also Operations, which are playable solo or with up to three players, and Eternal War, the dedicated PvP component with Team Deathmatch, Domination and King of the Hill modes. Stay tuned for more updates en route to the launch.
