With Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade coming to Xbox Series X/S, at last after years of waiting, and Nintendo Switch 2 on January 22nd, 2026, Square Enix has a new trailer showcasing the incredible opening on all platforms. Even if it’s not the comparison that most are expecting, it’s nice to see Cloud Strife’s first appearance translated so well.
For those concerned about performance on Switch 2, the critically acclaimed action RPG is confirmed to run at a relatively solid 30 frames per second (though it requires about 90 GB of installation space). Square Enix also revealed a new feature for both versions called Streamlined Progression, which allows players to enable Constant Max HP, Constant Max MP, constantly full ATB and Limit Gauges, and more.
These will allow for focusing entirely on the narrative and will eventually arrive on PS5 and PC, so stay tuned for updates. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is also coming to Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2 down the line, but a release window has yet to be announced. There’s also the third and final part of the trilogy, available on all platforms whenever it arrives.
