Hollow Knight: Silksong Reportedly Crossed 5 Million Players in 3 Days
Hollow Knight: Silksong’s launch has become as legendary as its long development period, with several storefronts, including Steam, suffering heavy server traffic as it went live. Team Cherry hasn’t officially announced sales, but Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics reports over five million players in just three days.
On Steam alone, the Metroidvania allegedly sold more than three million copies, earning $50 million in revenue (with the US and China leading as the top two markets). Hollow Knight fans seemingly comprise 78 percent of total owners on the platform. However, nearly half also played Elden Ring while a third have engaged with Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
When compared to other indie titles, 36 percent allegedly played Dead Cells. As such, complaints about the difficulty may be even more niche than expected, considering the number of players experienced in other challenging titles.
Available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch, Hollow Knight: Silksong retails for $19.99. Team Cherry will release a patch next week to nerf two early game bosses and increase the amount of currency, but it’s available now in Steam and GOG’s public beta branch for PC players.
