Black Myth Wukong Guide – All Secret/Optional Bosses and Their Locations
There are dozens of secrets in Black Myth Wukong, including a number of secret boss fights that you can only find by performing certain actions. This guide lists all known secret bosses by chapter in Black Myth Wukong.
Chapter 1
Wandering Wight
Outside the Forest
The very first optional boss wanders the area and can easily be missed if you beat Yaogui King: Elder Jinchian first, which is another secret boss.
Yaogui King: Elder Jinchi
Ancient Guanyin Temple
This secret boss is unlocked by finding and ringing all three Bells in Chapter 1. Doing so will teleport you to Ancient Guanyin Temple where you will face off against Elder Jinchi.
Yaogui King: Red Loong
Outside the Forest
This secret boss can only be battled after reaching Chapter 2 and collecting the Loong Scales. The boss is hidden behind a waterfall not far from the Outside the Forest.
Chapter 2
Giant Shigandang
Rockrest Flat
This behemoth of a boss is located within the same location as Yaogui King: Vanguard of Stone. Giant Shigandang is actually harder to best than the Yaogui King itself, but it is possible to pit them against one another, while still reaping the rewards from both. Simply collect all six Eyeballs and install them into the rock with heads in the arena of Yaogui King: Vanguard of Stone.
Mad Tiger
Bottom Of The Well
This boss is locked behind the Old Rattle-Drum questline, after descending into the well.
Yellow-Robed Squire
Rockrest Flat
Speak with the Drunken Boar, and complete the entirety of his questline.
Tiger Vanguard (Lesser)
Sandgate Pass
A secret boss, the Tiger Vanguard is locked behind the questline of the Yellow-Robed Squire, completion of which opens up access to the secret Kingdom of Sahi area in Chapter 2. This is a lesser version of the true Tiger Vanguard.
Yaogui King: Fuban
Sandgate Bound
This monstrous boss rivals Giant Shigandang and is the final antagonist in the secret Kingdom of Sahi area in Chapter 2. Requires the beating of Tiger Vanguard (Lesser) first.
Yaogui King: Black Loong
Rockrest Flat
The same Loong Scales required to unlock Red Loong in Chapter 1, will allow you to battle Yaogui King: Black Loong in Chapter 2. This secret boss is also concealed behind a waterfall.
Chapter 3
Yaogui Chief: Captain Lotus-Vision
Upper Pagoda
This hidden boss awaits you at the bottom of the cliff just opposite the resting place.
Yaogui King: Cyan Loong
Turtle Island
The third in the Loong series of secret bosses, Cyan Loong requires the Loong Scales in order to find and battle.
Chen Loong
North Shore
Chen Loong can be confronted at the end of his questline in Chapter 3.
Yin Tiger
Village Entrance
Post-completion of the Chen Loong questline, you will reach Chapter 3’s secret area, Zodiac Village. The local blacksmith, Yin Tiger, can be interacted with for a duel.
Green-Capped Martialist
Melon Field
The end-boss of the Treasure Hunter’s side quest can be found in a large cave right by the resting place.
Old Ginseng Guai
Towers of Karma
Interacting with the plainly visible flowering plant using ‘Gather’ will cause this hidden boss to rise up from beneath the ground.
Monk from the Sea
Temple Entrance
This tentacled optional boss is located deep within Thunderclap Temple after taking the leftward route from the entrance.
Non-Void
Temple Entrance
The endboss of the Fox questline, Non-Void can be found by following the path straight through from the Temple Entrance.
Chapter 4
Yaogui King: Yellow Loong
Relief of the Fallen Loong
The last of the Loong secret bosses, Yellow Loong can only be battled if you have the Loong Scales and have also beaten the previous Loongs, in no particular order.
Yaogui King: The Duskveil
Cloudnest Peak
Another gigantic secret boss, The Duskveil is a two phase enemy at the end of Chapter 4 secret area, Purple Cloud Mountain.
Yaogui King: The Scorpionlord
This optional boozing boss will converse with you, but will have to be goaded into fighting by smashing his kegs to pieces.
Chapter 5
Pale-Axe Stalwart
Ashen Pass I
This optional boss will be battling undead in the area, and must be beaten in order to acquire a side questline.
Flint Chief
Valley Entrance
This secret boss is best confronted with the Fireproof Mantle equipped, since the boss arena is literally lava. Acquire the item from the Chapter 1 secret area by looting the corpse at the bell.
Nine-Capped Lingzhi Guai
Ashen Pass III
Another subterranean hidden boss, simply yank the plainly visible red mushroom cluster out of the ground with ‘Gather’, and face Nine-Capped Lingzhi Guai.
Flint Vanguard
Fallen Furnace Crater
This boss is a long run down the sloped path from Fallen Furnace Crater with the rolling ball. The pile of rocks will assemble into this stone mini-boss.
Mother of Flamlings
Fallen Furnace Crater
After defeating Flint Vanguard, and even further down the path, is a glowing spot on the ground which can be interacted with using ‘Deliver’. Gather up four Flame Ore by defeating enemies in the vicinity, and offer it up to the Mother of Flamlings to have her rise up from beneath.
Baw-Lang-lang
Cooling Slope
After unlocking Chapter 5’s secret area, Bishui Cave, but just prior to accessing it, enter the gate instead. This fire frog boss is relatively easy.
Top Takes Bottom, Bottom Takes Top
Purge Pit
This secret twin boss is located in Chapter 5’s secret area, which requires getting and completing the Five Element Carts questline via Pale-Axe Stalwart, who is himself an optional boss.
Yaogui King: Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast
Corridor of Fire and Ice
The endboss of the secret area in Chapter 5 is best confronted with all the fire resistance you can muster, including Fireproof Mantle from Chapter 1’s secret area, and Body-Cooling Powder buffs.
Chapter 6
Poison Chief #1 and #2
Verdant Path
Use your flying cloud to make your way up to the plateau above the resting place for both of these hidden bosses.
Jiao-Loong of Waves
Verdant Path
Use your newly-acquired cloud flying spell to fly off of the edge of the cliff near the resting place and into the waters below. This will trigger the spawn of Jiao-Loong of Waves.
Lang-Baw-Baw
Verdant Path
Another frog boss, this one is deep in the foothills. From the resting place, fly your cloud to the cliff’s edge where you would descend to fight Jiao-Loong of Waves, but veer a hard right to the very corner of the map.
Water-Wood Beast
Verdant Path
Another hidden boss can be found in the waters beneath the resting place. Fly your cloud around the back side of the resting place, scanning the water below for bubbling. Approach it to make this hippo-like boss spawn.
Son of Stones
Verdant Path
This boss is plainly visible from afar, sitting on the cliff’s edge to the left and opposite where you would descend to fight Jiao-Loong of Waves.
Giant Shigandang
Verdant Path
Well beyond the Sons of Stones boss arena, is your second battle with a monstrous Giant Shigandang. This boss can only be spawned if you possess all Skandhas.

This trio of bosses in a row are part of the secret ending, with Erlang Shen being the ultimate boss in Black Myth Wukong.
