Crimson Desert is the latest big-name title to get delayed out of 2025. It’s now launching in Q1 2026, according to Pearl Abyss during a conference call for its Q2 2025 earnings.
“The launch of Crimson Desert, our first large-scale AAA console game, has been unavoidably delayed by one quarter, from the previously announced schedule. This is due to longer-than-expected timelines arising from schedule coordination and collaborations with multiple partners for offline distribution, voice-overs, console certification, and other launch preparations.
“We sincerely apologize for not being able to meet the originally promised fourth quarter launch schedule. Please kindly understand that this is a strategic decision aimed at ensuring success on a meaningful scale.”
Due to the delay, Pearl Abyss is looking to announce a concrete date at a “more appropriate time based on business considerations, rather than making an announcement at Gamescom next week.”
It’s currently working on voice-overs and console certification for the action RPG ahead of launch, which could suggest a release in the opening months of next year. Pearl Abyss currently plans to showcase the open world this month at Gamescom and PAX West, alongside attending Tokyo Game Show next month to “strengthen our marketing efforts in the Japanese market.”
Crimson Desert is in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It was first announced in December 2020 and has faced several delays ever since. The story focuses on Kliff, the leader of a mercenary group, which becomes scattered after an intense battle.
He travels the world of Pywel afterwards to find his allies, taking on tasks and battling multiple threats along the way. Check out some more extensive gameplay here. You can also check out our thoughts here.
