Developer Techland has taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce that it will be taking down listings for the Ultimate Edition and Upgrade to Ultimate Edition for Dying Light 2 Stay Human on all platforms. From September 30 onwards, the Ultimate Edition will not be available to purchase digitally.

The studio has stated that players that already own the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 Stay Human will be essentially unaffected. It is also worth noting that the Ultimate Edition can still be picked up before the September 30 deadline.

The studio recently unveiled Dying Light: The Beast. The game was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and will feature the protagonist of the first Dying Light, Kyle Crane. Techland has stated that Dying Light: The Beast started development as DLC for Dying Light 2, but will be released as a standalone title.

In a separate tweet, the developer explained that the expanded nature of the upcoming standalone title is part of why Dying Light 2’s Ultimate Edition is set to be taken off sale.

“While we were developing Dying Light: The Beast it has outgrown its original scope. We’re now delivering a full 18+ hours standalone adventure instead of just a DLC,” Techland wrote. “We will be honoring our promise to our long-time supporters and deliver Dying Light: The Beast to current Ultimate owners at no extra cost – but due to the increased scope, we will stop selling it in the future.”

Dying Light: The Beast is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A release date will be announced later this year.
