A recent rumour claimed that Avowed was set to be delayed into early 2025, and that has now been officially confirmed.
Originally set to release this fall, developer Obsidian Entertainment let slip last month that the fantasy RPG would be releasing in November, something that prior leaks had claimed as well, though the same was not officially announced by the studio or by Microsoft. Now, the latter has announced on Twitter that the game will release on February 18, 2025.
“We’re moving Avowed to Feb 18, 2025 to give players’ backlogs some breathing room,” the company wote.
Microsoft has a packed release schedule in place for the second half of 2024, including titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Ara: History Untold, Age of Mythology; Retold, Towerborne, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as well as expansions like World of Warcraft: The War Within, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, and Starfield: Shattered Space. GSC Game World’s Xbox console exclusive S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is also due out this November.
Avowed has joined several other Microsoft titles already confirmed to be releasing in 2025, including Fable, South of Midnight, and DOOM: The Dark Ages. Leaks have claimed that Gears of War: E-Day could also launch next year.
Microsoft recently announced that Avowed will be one of 50 games to be present at the company’s booth at Gamescom later this month, in addition to a livestream revealing new information on August 23.
