Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake 2 has become its fastest-selling game to date with 1.3 million units sold, and while the acclaimed survival horror title is certainly impressing with its sales, Remedy’s previous flagship release, 2019’s Control, is continuing to sell at a steady pace as well.
Alongside announcing Alan Wake 2’s sales, the developer has also revealed that Control has now sold over 4 million units to date across all platforms. That’s up from 3 million units sold, reported in March last year. With an additional 1 million units sold in the space of roughly a year this far out from its original launch, the acclaimed third-person shooter is certainly enjoying a long tail where its sales are concerned.
In our review of Control upon its original release, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Remedy Entertainment is a studio with a storied history, so to say that they’re at their absolute best here is no slight praise, and it’s not praise that’s easily given- but Control is just that good. Whether it’s a story you’re looking for, or engaging gameplay with mechanical depth, Control has more than enough up its sleeve to keep you rigorously engaged from start to finish.” Read the full review through here. Currently, Remedy is working on a co-op spinoff set in the Control universe. Tentatively codenamed Condor, a recent trademark filing suggested its official title could be FBC: Firebreak.
Remedy confirmed in October last year that Condor had entered the “production readiness” stage of development. The studio also announced in November 2022 that it had started working on Control 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The sequel is currently in the proof-of-concept stage of production.
