Konami and FIFA Have Entered Into an Esports Collaboration Agreement

EA and FIFA ended their long-standing partnership a couple of years back, and though the latter has said that it is working on its own game with new partners (2K, according to some past reports), it looks it has partnered with another company for esports-specific purposes- and it’s a company with plenty of experience in the football sim genre.

Konami has announced that it has entered into an agreement with FIFA that will see the two entities collaborating on esports development worldwide. For starters, two FIFA World Cup esports events will be held over the course of this year, including one that has kicked off this year, with players competing against each other through Konami’s free-to-play football sim, eFootball, on PC and consoles.

Whether we can expect Konami and FIFA’s collaboration to extend beyond esports at any time in the future remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks and months.
